PORT Adelaide's big-buy recruit of the trade period, Angus Monfries, is ready to return to action.
The former Essendon forward has passed a fitness test on his strained hamstring to be available for the Power's pre-season finale against Sydney at AAMI Stadium on Saturday.
Monfries was injured in Port's 20/20 NAB Cup openers against St Kilda and Adelaide.
The Barometer: Medical update for every club
He is set to play a half against the Swans. If this proves successful, he will be a contender for Port's season-opener against Melbourne at the MCG on March 31.
Port's squad for the trial against the AFL premier includes Hawthorn recruit Brent Renouf for the first time in this pre-season. The Power has named three ruckmen - Renouf, Matthew Lobbe and Jarrad Redden.
The Power also has named key forward John Butcher, a week after he made an encouraging return to competitive football in an internal trial with SANFL club Port Adelaide Magpies.
Port's medical staff also has cleared forward Robbie Gray to start his playing comeback from his serious knee injury.
Gray, who damaged a knee in the Power's round 4 loss to Collingwood last year, will play a half for his SANFL club West Adelaide in a trial game at Richmond Oval on Saturday night.
